BASEBALL HALL OF FAME ICON REMEMBERED BY PLAYERS AND FANS //
Little Falls, NJ – Yogi Berra, baseball legend and former catcher of the New York Yankees died Tuesday night, September 22, 2015, at the age of 90. Baseball fans from all over the tri-state area flocked to the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, on the campus of Montclair State University, where they mourned and honored his life. The Museum and Learning Center broke the news of Berra’s passing earlier this morning via Twitter.

“The Montclair State community is deeply saddened by the loss of our longtime friend, neighbor and supporter Yogi Berra,” said University President Dr. Susan A. Cole in a statement posted to MSU’s website. “We are proud that our campus is home to the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center. It will continue to serve as a lasting memorial to the outstanding achievements and inspiring sportsmanship of this legendary athlete and compassionate citizen.”
Berra is regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of Major League Baseball. Among his accomplishments, Berra was a 10-time World Series champion and 18-time All-Star. In 1972, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

At the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, fans young and old shared their thoughts of the legend. “As a Yankee fan, and a fan of baseball itself, Yogi was bigger than life,” said Steve Lockword, who placed flowers on the growing memorial outside the museum with his son.
Berra, a long-time Montclair resident, was an advocate for giving back to the community. The Yogi Berra Stadium & Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, which offers exhibits and educational programs, opened in 1998.
